Plexus wins $1m Malaysian contract

SHARES in Plexus Holdings jumped more than 9 per cent after its Aberdeen-based well head-making subsidiary secured its first contract to serve Malaysia’s national oil and gas company.

The deal with American contractor Vantage Drilling is worth $1 million (£618,000) and covers oil and gas exploration activities in the east of the country.

Chief executive Ben Van Bilderbeek said: “This contract win further extends our geographic footprint within the South-East Asian market, a region that has an established oil and gas industry, which is expected to substantially grow due to the number of new platforms being built over the next five years.”

Plexus is registered in Surrey but its operational base is in Aberdeen. Earlier this week, it won a $2m contract with Transocean. Shares closed up 5.75p at 68.5p.
