Pieminister supplies more than 80 pubs a week around the UK, as well as major supermarkets, with its range of ethically sourced pies and side dishes.

The group said it believed it was on track to triple its current number of restaurants to 30 by 2020. Other long-term targets include Bath, Brighton, Cambridge as well as some further London locations.

Stuart Williams, director of Williams Gunter Hardwick, said: “Every new outlet has proved a great success so far, so we’re comfortable with going further north where there is arguably a stronger tradition of pie cuisine than in most of the south.”
