Peterson seals multi-million-pound contract on Aberdeen to Shetland ferry route

Global energy logistics provider Peterson has sealed a five-year, multi-million-pound contract to provide support on the Aberdeen to Shetland ferry route.

The agreement will see Peterson build on its existing relationship with Serco NorthLink Ferries through the provision of quayside handling for passenger ferries and freight ships. This will support the movement of cargo such as livestock trailers and commercial vehicles at the Aberdeen and Lerwick ports.

The contract will run through to June 2026 and will help to secure jobs in the local communities, the firm added. It is expected that the agreement will have a seven-figure annual value, excluding fuel provisions.

Kris Bevan, Serco’s freight manager at NorthLink Ferries, added: “We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship with Peterson. It’s been a very strong partnership to date which helps us in providing an essential lifeline service between the Scottish mainland and Northern Isles.”

Peterson was established in 1920 and is part of a wider group operating in more than 70 countries with some 5,000 people globally.
