Sarah Brown from Auchterarder is behind Blossom Kind, an online gift shop featuring sustainable wooden toys – with her two-year-old daughter Freya testing the products. Support has also come from business analyst husband Jonathan, and the company’s name is a nod to the family’s Labrador, Blossom.

The idea for the new business, which features products from toy makers such as Melissa and Doug, Thread Bear and Tender Leaf, came about after marketing expert Brown was looking for an opportunity to diversify.

The firm specialises in toys using wood, non-toxic paints or encouraging ethical textile sourcing.

Brown said: “The giving of gifts will have more meaning than ever this Christmas when many of us may not be able to see loved ones in person. We hope that our hand-picked wooden and eco-friendly toys will become extra special gifts for little ones that can be cherished for years to come.”
