Peck seeking a chain reaction

PROPERTY veteran David “the destroyer” Peck wasn’t joking when he sent out a postcard this year asking business folk if they could “outpace Peck” in the upcoming Buccleuch Property Challenge. Barfly presumed the tone of the invitation was tongue in cheek but has since learned that Peck, who is managing director of Buccleuch Property, has been in serious training for the event on 16 September, which involves a six-hour physical and mental test including mountain biking, running and orienteering.

On a night off at the Edinburgh Book Festival on Wednesday, Peck told Barfly he has been doing intense cycling in France during the summer – including completing a route that was a stage in this year’s Tour de France. We suggest the other teams get on their bikes.
