Parkhouse recruited to lead restructuring business at McClure

Law firm McClure Naismith has appointed former McGrigors lawyer Mark Parkhouse as its new head of insolvency and restructuring in the UK.

Parkhouse, until recently head of insolvency at McGrigors, will be spearheading McClure Naismith’s drive to grow its UK insolvency and re-structuring business.

The Glasgow-headquartered firm’s work in that field includes helping to restructure stricken Icelandic bank Landsbanki. It has carried out restructurings in the property, leisure, construction and technology sectors.

Chairman Alan Thomson said: “We are delighted that Mark has joined the firm to lead our insolvency and restructuring practice.

“This is an increasingly important area for McClure Naismith, with significant opportunities to extend the advice we provide to our clients, and in turn to grow our business.

“Mark is highly regarded in his field and will play a key role driving our business forward.”

McClure has 36 partners and some 180 staff across its offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London.

Parkhouse, who will become a partner, is experienced in handling both bank- and borrower-led debt restructurings, advising UK and US banks and insolvency practitioners on cross-border and domestic turnaround and recovery work. The English qualified lawyer and licensed insolvency practitioner has held a number of senior roles in the profession.

In recent years he has concentrated on cross-border recovery matters, asset sales and debt restructuring, and has gained related expertise in insolvency related employment issues.

Parkhouse is also a solicitor advocate with rights of audience in the English high courts and contentious work has included domestic and cross-border disputes involving civil enforcement and claims for fraud and misfeasance, plus numerous confidential corporate reorganisations and restructurings.
