On The Move: A round-up of the latest appointments in the Scottish business world

Scone Palace has crowned new chief executive to lead the historic estate.

Brian Stevenson, former deputy director for the Scottish Government’s Rural Payments and Inspection Directorate, has been named chief executive of Scone Palace and Estate.

A graduate of the University of Aberdeen with a BSC in Agriculture and 22 years of experience in the directorate, Stevenson previously oversaw the administration of all European Commission common agricultural policy schemes in Scotland.

He will be employed by Savills, the managing agents for the estate, which was once the crowning place of Scottish kings. Stevenson said: “As a local resident of Perth & Kinross I’ve visited Scone Palace with my family and we’ve enjoyed the extensive gardens and grounds as visitors. It’s a genuine privilege to serve as the organisation’s chief executive.”

Scottish Business UK (SBUK), the apolitical organisation seeking to give Scottish businesses a voice in opposition to a second referendum on Scottish independence, has strengthened its Advisory Board with the appointment of Professor Ronald MacDonald.

An internationally renowned authority on international finance, MacDonald is chair of macroeconomics and international finance at the Adam Smith Business School in the University of Glasgow.

His research is published in the economics profession’s leading journals and he has more than 18,000 citations recorded on Google Scholar. He has previously acted as an adviser and consultant to governments, international regulators and global companies.

Montrose Port Authority has appointed Graeme Nimmo as its new chief operating officer to support CEO Tom Hutchison. Glasgow-born Nimmo is no stranger to Montrose Port Authority having sat on the board since 2016, he is also a fully qualified chartered shipbroker with over 35 years’ experience in the shipping industry.

Previously employed by ASCO Group subsidiary Seletar Shipping he was responsible for Seletar’s office network providing port coverage in the UKEC central and southern regions.

Beauty-tech firm Cutitronics has expanded its team with four new hires ahead of its global product launch.

The University of Strathclyde spin-out has recruited Ignacio Rubio Gomez as embedded software engineer, Jim Doyle as senior electronics design engineer, Daniel Lennon as senior mechanical project engineer and Sarah Shields as mechanical project engineer.
