Nimmo to lead innovation contest

Professor Walter Nimmo, founder of drug testing firm Inveresk Research, has been appointed to lead the UK's biggest "innovation" competition awarding cash to start-up companies and concepts in the life sciences sector.

The BioQuarter competition has also signed up three new corporate sponsors, patent attorney Marks & Clerk, Edinburgh law practice MBM Commercial and accountancy firm, Springfords, bringing total money available to winners up to 55,000.

The BioQuarter Innovation Competition 2011 awards will be made in July.
