New position for McAlpine

MAUREEN McAlpine, former head of communications at Scottish Enterprise, has taken up a new post.

She has been appointed to the newly-created position of director, strategy implementation, and will undertake a two-year project to ensure the Scottish Executive's Smart, Successful Scotland programme is delivered across the network. She is also responsible for planning and performance, research and information management.

McAlpine, sister of Herald deputy editor Joan, will be working with the chief executives of the local enterprise companies and management teams to ensure all Scottish Enterprise projects and programmes reflect the overall objective.

Jane Martin, corporate communications manager, has taken over as acting head of communications and will combine the roles of media relations and internal communications.

No decision has been taken on replacing Marion Ballantyne, who left the press office earlier this year.
