New director for technology project

A BODY created to commercialise lasers and other photonic gadgets created in Scottish universities has appointed a new director.

Industry veteran Iain Ross will lead the three-year SU2P project, which brings together four Scottish and two Californian universities and which has liaised with industry players including Optos, Selex and Thales.

Photonics – the technology of generating and harnessing light – has applications in life sciences, renewable energy, communications technology, everyday consumer electronics and semiconductors.
