New contracts swell Clark's turnover

A STRING of contracts with big names including retailer JD Sports and law firm Maclay, Murray & Spens has helped construction firm Clark Contracts to grow turnover

Accounts filed at Companies House show that the Paisley-based firm, which was founded in 1978, enjoyed an 8.4 per cent rise in revenues to 31.6 million in the year to 31 October.

Clark Contracts - which has about 170 staff based at its offices at Newbridge, near Edinburgh, and in its home town - booked pre-tax profits of 74,906, up slightly from 72,735 in the previous 12 months.

Writing in the directors' report, executive chairman Steve Clark said that, although the firm's margins had fallen, its "continued focus on controlling overheads" had allowed it to maintain profits.

In January, the contractor unveiled deals worth 10m.
