New contracts sees Jarvie Plant Group go on hiring spree

A string of key contracts including work on the new western bypass in Aberdeen and Dundee's V&A Museum project has triggered a recruitment drive at one of Scotland's biggest plant hire businesses.

The expansion push comes after Grangemouth-based Jarvie Plant Group recently opened a depot in Aberdeen and moved to a new purpose built depot in Dundee, taking the total number of sites in Scotland to eight.

Over the past 12 months, staff numbers across the business have risen to 150 with 15 jobs created to support the expanded depot network, and this number is set to rise further.

The company is currently involved in the construction of the new Aberdeen western peripheral road where it is supplying equipment and machinery to the construction consortium involving Balfour Beatty, Carillion and Galliford Try.

In Dundee it is providing tower lights and generators to the V&A Museum while in Edinburgh and Glasgow the firm continues to support the resurgent house building sector with a range of temporary accommodation, vans and civil engineering equipment to keep pace with demand.

Business development director David Jarvie said: “The business is on an exciting growth curve. With Scotland’s construction sector gradually improving, we are aiming to provide our customers such as house builders, civil engineers and building contractors with a first-class hire service,”

Sister company, JP Vehicle Rentals, has invested in scores of new vehicles, including eight-seater carriers.
