New chairman lined up for Intertek

Product testing and inspection specialist Intertek yesterday confirmed that outgoing Tesco chairman David Reid would join the firm as its new chairman in January.

Intertek, which tests items from toys and clothes to oil and renewable technology, said Reid – also a former chairman of Kwik-Fit Group – would replace Vanni Treves, who retires on 1 January after ten years in the post.

Reid’s departure from Tesco was confirmed in May when Barclays’ Richard Broadbent was named as his successor, starting in November.

Reid, 64, will join the Intertek board as a non-executive director from 1 December.

Treves said: “David brings substantial board and wide-ranging business experience to Intertek from an impressive executive and non-executive career.”
