Purdie Worldwide launches new removals app
A removal firm based, between Glasgow and Edinburgh and covering Scotland’s central belt, has launched a new app to make moving day easier than ever.
Whether you are moving just one street away, or hundreds of miles, moving home is known to be one of the most stressful life events and planning the logistics of any move is traditionally a pain-point.
But a new app from Purdie in West Lothian puts the power in the hands of the customer, with all the info at a touch of a button. It’s a modern approach to a service they’ve been offering for over 60 years, allowing the team to service clients in the fast-paced and time-stretched world that we live in.
That includes a DIY survey service, which allows you to do a video walk-round of your own home at a time that suits you, and submit it for a full price and date for your removal, all at your fingertips.
Neil Purdie, director of the family-run firm based in Blackburn, said: “We closed for eight weeks at the start of lockdown in March 2020, but since restrictions on removals ended fully in July 2020 we have never stopped.
“The market is booming at the moment, and with so many families moving home they need a service they can rely on, but also at a time that suits them, and the app means people can fit the planning around their own life, not just traditional office hours.
“We have found that most people actually prefer a video call in the first instance with only around 10% of moves needing a follow up survey to ensure that we can get this absolutely perfect for some of the bigger moves. As a result the app allows customers to book their own surveys at a convenient time.
“You can find out all about the services we offer – like removals, storage or packing – live chat our team to get your questions answered, get a quote for a removal, book an in-person viewing, pay your bill … literally, we’ve covered off all you need to know in one app, there on your phone when you have time to review it.
“We know moving home is stressful. On the day, we’ve always prided ourselves in making it easier for our customers, now that service is available at every stage in your removals journey. The feedback we have had from customers has been really positive about it.”
Based just 18 miles from Edinburgh and 22 from Glasgow, and just off the M8, Purdie is able to cover the entire central belt with affordable, efficient services.
With the property market on a high at the moment, homes are often changing hands within days. There’s been a knock-on effect where people are selling without a new home immediately available to move into, so need to use Purdie’s storage facilities to keep their items secure for a few months.
Neil added: “Using our app couldn’t be easier … simply download it for ios or android on your phone.”
