New affordable housing director for AS Homes

Housebuilder AS Homes (Scotland) has appointed industry veteran Roddy MacDonald as its new affordable housing director.

MacDonald joins the Glasgow-based builder from national housing and care provider Sanctuary Group, where he spent six years at its Scottish arm, latterly as development director. In his new role he will be responsbile for delivering affordable housing with various partners across the country.

AS Homes (Scotland) builds private and social housing for registered social landlords including Clydebank Housing Association, Cube Housing, Homes Scotland and Wheatley Group. It recently completed five developments in and around Glasgow, totalling 221 homes, and gained planning approval on sites in Anniesland Clydebank to build a further 100 homes.

MacDonald, whose 30-year career in housing has included stints with Dawn, Miller and Ogilvie Homes, said: “I am very excited to be joining AS Homes to help them deliver high-quality, affordable housing across Scotland.

“During my time at Sanctuary Scotland, we worked with AS Homes on several occasions, so I was well aware of the company’s excellent reputation for delivering quality homes on time and on budget, which is something that is very important to me.”
