Neil Veitch promoted to board at SVM

NEIL Veitch's work at SVM Asset Management has been recognised with a promotion to the board of the Edinburgh-based investment boutique.

Veitch - fund manager for the SVM UK Opportunities Fund and co-manager of SVM's "All Europe Socially Responsible Investment" fund - joins founding directors Colin McLean, Margaret Lawson and Donald Robertson on the SVM board.

McLean says: "Neil is an outstanding investment manager and his appointment is recognition of the significant contribution he is making to SVM. It is an exciting time for SVM and we look forward to working with Neil to grow the business."

Also taking up a new boardroom post is Jane Hext, a former customer services director at Vodafone, who has joined Response, the call centre operator owned by Sir David Murray, as a non-executive director.

Response mananging director Brian Bannatyne says: "Her industry knowledge and acute understanding of what a good outsource service provider will need to look like in the future is phenomenal."

Trinity International Services, the Aberdeen-based offshore catering firm, has also appointed a new director, with operations boss Dean Burgess stepping up to become managing director.

Burgess, who joined the firm in 2005, has led projects in Azerbaijan, Equatorial Guinea and Kazakhstan, as well as the UK. Chairman Stuart MacBride says: "Not long after joining, Dean managed our work on the Bonga project in Nigeria, playing a key role in what was one of the largest vessel construction contracts in exploration and production history."

Meanwhile, outsourcing and technology firm Logica has appointed Grant Niven as head of financial services in Scotland. Niven, who joins from IT firm Morse, is charged with further growing the firm's financial services business following a spate of contract wins in the sector this year.

Property giant DTZ has expanded its Edinburgh office by appointing Robert McArthur as senior surveyor to its valuation team. McArthur joins from Savills, where he held a position in the commercial valuation team.
