Myners becomes research firm chairman

FORMER City minister Lord Myners has been hired by Autonomous Research as chairman.

Autonomous - which provides equity and credit research on banks and insurers to institutional investors - said Myners will also become a partner in the company, which is run as a limited liability partnership.

Founder Stuart Graham said: "Lord Myner's long-standing belief in our industry and extensive business career will be an enormous asset to us as we continue to grow in Europe and expand into Asia and the US."

Myners was the Labour government's financial services minister from 2008 until last year's general election. In 2001 he wrote the Myners report for the Treasury into institutional investment and recommended that investors needed independent rather than in-house research.
