Multi-million-pound Glasgow affordable housing project takes big step forward

An affordable housing development offering more than 60 homes in Glasgow has move a step closer after the appointment of a building contractor.

Maryhill Housing has appointed Cruden Building, part of the Cruden Group, to deliver the multi-million-pound project in Maryhill.

Due to start formally next month, the £11.5 million development will be built on vacant land at the corner of Maryhill Road and Cowal Road on the approach to Kelvindale.

The site is one of eight “transformational regeneration areas” in the Glasgow area and will see 62 one- and two-bedroomed apartments being built for social rental, mid-market rental and shared equity. The development will also feature communal landscaped areas and parking.

Bryony Willett, chief executive of Maryhill Housing, said: “We look forward to working with Cruden Building. We know what people living in our communities want and we look forward to creating much-needed new affordable housing that will contribute to this distinctive urban community for generations to come.”
