MSP’s buddy role is working in hotel

Jim Hume, the MSP for South Scotland, is to carry out a “work experience placement” at an Ayr hotel in order to learn about the challenges and opportunities facing small businesses.

Hume will join staff at the Elms Court Hotel as part of the Business Buddy scheme, recently launched by the not-for-profit Forum of Private Business.

Business Buddy aims to foster a greater understanding of small businesses among politicians by providing them with hands-on experience of day-to-day life at a firm in their constituency.

Hume said he was delighted to take part.
