High street stalwart Marks & Spencer is to hire some 1,300 seasonal workers across its Scottish store estate ahead of the annual Christmas shopping rush.

The move is part of the retail giant's recruitment drive across the UK and Ireland to take on 20,000 seasonal staff. The biggest intake north of the Border will be at Braehead near Glasgow, which is seeking more than 200 extra workers.
