M&S creates 150 Scots jobs in customer service drive

Marks & Spencer has created 150 extra jobs across five stores in Scotland in a bid to 'improve the customer experience'.

The retailer said the new roles – at its branches in Aberdeen, Braehead, Edinburgh’s Princes Street and Gyle, and Glasgow’s Argyle Street – are in response to feedback received from more than 250,000 customers nationwide.

Improvements include better fitting room support and “store hosts” to help customers.

Jenny McPartlin, manager at Princes Street, said: “The changes we’ve made in store are from direct customer feedback as to how they’d like to shop.

“Bringing in new colleagues and improving the way shoppers can navigate the store has given us the ability to be able to offer a personal touch to our service – the store hosts in particular have been a really successful addition to the team.”
