Marks & Clerk, the intellectual property (IP) firm, has appointed Dr Richard Gibbs as the new managing partner of its Glasgow office.

Gibbs, a chartered and European patent attorney, has spent 13 years advising clients on their IP needs and became a partner in Marks & Clerk in 2013. With particular expertise in the field of biotechnology and technologies relating to antibodies, vaccines, biologics, virology, bacteriology and molecular biology, he has worked with all of Scotland’s major universities and is a regular speaker at IP conferences and events.

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, the UK hotels business, has appointed Jeff Mills as its new national golf business development manager. Mills brings more than eight years of experience in sports and hospitality sales and business development, with previous golf-based roles at Q Hotels and the De Vere Group.

In his new role, he will drive new corporate business at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts’ golf properties, as well as lead on the account management and future development of the group’s Golf Tour Operators production for inbound golf travel into the UK, Spain and Portugal. Mills said: “I’m delighted to have joined the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts team and I’m excited about the opportunity to support so many fantastic venues. The group boasts some of the most spectacular and iconic golf destinations, which are renowned for being some of the best in the Europe.”
