On the move: Latest appointments and promotions

Essential Edinburgh '“ the company that runs the city centre business improvement district '“ has strengthened its board with the appointment of two new non-executive directors.

Marketing Edinburgh’s chief executive John Donnelly and Jenny McPartlin, general manager of Marks & Spencer on Princes Street, will join with immediate effect. Chairman Denzil Skinner said: “John Donnelly and Jenny McPartlin bring tremendous skills, energy and commitment to Essential Edinburgh.”

Wealth management firm Anderson Strathern Asset Management has announced the appointment of Donald Barlow to its investment team. He takes up the position of senior investment manager, and will be drawing on his institutional and private client investment background. Barlow brings with him 18 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has previously held the positions of senior research analyst and investment manager at Martin Currie.

Industry body Homes for Scotland has announced the internal appointment of Tammy Adams as head of planning. The role will promote membership interests across all aspects of planning policy relating to the delivery of much-needed new homes and supporting infrastructure throughout the country. She said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to support and promote the efforts of Scotland’s home building industry in ensuring we have enough homes of all types to meet the diverse needs of our growing population.”

Campbell Dallas has appointed Zenga Lawrie, an expert in international trading, particularly in the oil and gas sector, as a new director based in the firm’s Aberdeen office. Lawrie, who is a CA and has a BA in accounting with distinction, has extensive knowledge of the complex tax and operational issues affecting businesses trading in other jurisdictions.

Scottish law firm Gillespie Macandrew has appointed two experienced associates to its Glasgow office, as it continues to see its client base in the west of Scotland grow. Isobell Reid, formerly with DWF LLP, is an experienced property and commercial lawyer and joins the litigation & dispute resolution team, while Eleanor Fitzsimmons boosts the breadth of expertise within the firm’s land & rural business practice. The firm also has offices in Edinburgh and Perth.
