On the move: Latest appointments and promotions

Scottish Armed Forces children's charity the Royal Caledonian Education Trust (RCET) has hired Poppyscotland's former head of fundraising as its latest chief executive.

Colin Flinn takes over from James MacBain and will start on 18 July, based at the RCET’s head office on Edinburgh’s George Street. He has nearly 35 years’ leadership and management experience in the statutory and voluntary sectors, in roles including assistant director of children’s services for NCH Scotland.

Chairman Malcolm Noble said: “Colin‘s entire career has been dedicated to supporting the disadvantaged in our society. We are delighted that he is joining the RCET.”

Law firm Gillespie Macandrew has appointed corporate and commercial solicitor Chris Gibson to its Edinburgh office in the latest of a series of appointments to further expand its business. Formerly of Jacksons, he joins as an associate, and is a dual-qualified Scottish and English corporate and commercial solicitor.

He is also a chartered company secretary and one of only around 800 English-qualified public notaries. Gillespie Macandrew chief executive Chris West said: “Chris’ appointment marks a further expansion to our corporate and commercial services and is part of our overall strategy to build on our growth as one of Scotland’s leading law firms.”

Recruitment specialist Core-Asset Consulting said it has strengthened its asset-servicing credentials with the appointment of Rachael O’Neill to the newly-created position of business manager for financial services. Reporting to Louise Powrie, director of financial services, O’Neill’s duties will include responsibility for the recruitment of all permanent asset-servicing roles at a mid to senior level, and her appointment brings the number of employees at the firm to 36.

Powrie said: “Rachael has well over a decade of recruitment expertise, with the bulk of these focused on asset servicing. I’m confident she will make an immediate and positive impact and I welcome her to the team.”
