On the move: Access Legal boosts medical negligence team

She represents claimants, is accredited by the Law Society as a specialist in medical negligence, and joins from Anderson Strathern where she practised in their healthcare, public and regulatory law team. Phil Barnes, medical negligence partner at Access Legal, said: “Her specialist knowledge and experience will help drive forward our medical negligence expertise in Scotland.”

Chartered accountant Haines Watts said its Edinburgh office has grown its tax department in response to the growing demand for services. David Doherty has joined as tax manager, having worked at Big Four firms including KPMG, and more recently with Chiene & Tait. His skills include providing personal, capital gains and inheritance tax advice and guidance to high-net-worth individuals. Matthew Hawkins, having passed his Association of Tax Technicians exam, has become assistant tax manager and Katie McCann joins the department as tax assistant.

Edinburgh-based recruiter Eden Scott has boosted its food and drink division, with plans to increase headcount further. Damian Anderson joins the team with more than 12 years of recruitment experience. Also joining is Jules Pearson, focusing on executive-level appointments. Eden Scott said the new hires are “integral” to its food and drink team’s plans.

Accountancy Scott-Moncrieff has immediately appointed Allison Gibson as a partner in its Glasgow office after 17 years at the firm. Her duties include providing audit and accounting advice, alongside operational and technical advice and training to SMEs and owner-managed businesses in the manufacturing, distribution, property and construction sectors. Shelley Hughes, formerly of PwC and EDF Energy, has joined the firm as audit director.

Edinburgh-based PR agency Citypress is celebrating three years in Scotland with the appointment of two PR consultants. Joe Walton, former secretary of the CIPR Scotland committee and previously of the Scottish Government, has been appointed senior account manager. Ross Stebbing, CIPR Scotland’s Outstanding Young Communicator of The Year, joins the company from the Holyrood Partnership as account executive.
