Motorola splits into two companies

ELECTRONICS firm Motorola finally split itself into two companies yesterday, one focusing on mobile phones and the other on radio equipment.

The long-awaited move is part of Motorola's strategy to present two simple businesses to investors, rather than one large, complicated company.

Motorola Mobility now makes consumer goods, while Motorola Solutions produces radios and barcode scanners.
