The Edinburgh-based builder, part of FTSE 250 construction group Galliford Try, is to deliver the state-of-the-art facility, spanning about 23,000 square metres, on the existing Roodlands Campus.

It was awarded the contract by Hub South East Scotland on behalf of NHS Lothian, which has said that work on the project – aimed at boosting the number of in-patient beds in East Lothian by almost 60 per cent – is expected to start late next year.

Galliford Try said it was “delighted” to be chosen for the project. Its facilities management business has also been appointed preferred bidder to provide ongoing maintenance at the site, in a contract worth about £32m over 25 years.

Additionally Galliford Try Investments will be investing and providing management services to the company to be established to fund the project.
