More places for people in Edinburgh

DEVELOPMENT company Places for People is pumping £30 million into the Edinburgh property market to build 350 homes after receiving cash from the National Housing Trust and the Scottish Government.

The firm, which owns Castle Rock Edinvar, said the investment would support 640 jobs over three years.

The first development to start in the city under with NHT backing is on a brownfield site adjacent to the former Madelvic car plant in the capital’s Granton waterfront district.

The £8m Madelvic development will be followed by a second NHT-backed phase of development of 126 homes at Lochend, representing an £18.5m investment. Three other sites in the Lothians that will be supported through the Innovation and Investment fund are at West Pilton and Craigmillar and West Calder.
