Mercer eyes expansion on G1 move

Global consultancy firm Mercer is moving into the newly-redeveloped G1 building in Glasgow as it prepares to expand its Scottish operations.

The firm, which specialises in investment, risk management, outsourcing and consulting, will consolidate its two Glasgow offices on two floors of the George Square building from July.

It currently has 200 staff in Glasgow but the new premises, formerly the city's Victorian Post Office building, allow capacity of up to 300.

The move is in anticipation of adding to the 300 actuaries, consultants and pension scheme administrators already employed by Mercer in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Steven Blackie, Mercer's business leader in Scotland, said: "The move demonstrates our continued commitment to growth and investment in Scotland."
