Menzies starts search for chief executive

Logistics group John Menzies today said it would be looking to appoint a chief executive after the boss of its aviation business resigned.

The Edinburgh-based newspaper distributor and baggage handler does not have a chief executive; instead it has an executive managing director for Menzies Aviation, an executive managing director for its distribution arm and a group finance director.

However, the firm said it is now conducting a “detailed review” of its senior management structure after Craig Smyth, managing director of Menzies Aviation, tendered his resignation after more than ten years in the post.

“We will make an announcement as soon as we have concluded the review process,” Menzies said, adding that Smyth will continue in his current role and fulfil all of his contractual obligations.
