THE BARR Construction brand is set to disappear, seven years after the Paisley-based firm was taken over by McLaughlin & Harvey.

The Northern Irish group said combining the businesses as a single trading entity would bring “real potential to create new jobs within the expanded operation”.

Barr Holdings chairman Philip Cheevers said: “By working together, the combined McLaughlin & Harvey will be in a strong position to create jobs, attract the best talent in the industry and compete for larger contracts and projects we cannot currently approach independently.”

The rebranding, expected to happen early next year, follows the sale of Barr’s quarry operations to Breedon Aggregates for £20.8 million.
