Matchpoint scores big with Lions tour offering

scottisH hospitality company Matchpoint has scored a major success on the British & Irish Lions rugby tour by securing AUS$4.5 million (£2.8m) in sales.

The Edinburgh-based business is catering for 7,500 rugby fans over the month-long event Down Under, with half of them experiencing a new service style, Rugby Den. Matchpoint says Rugby Den is more informal corporate hospitality, developing an additional revenue stream for the Australian Rugby Union, and earning the company AUS$1.5m. Group managing director Neil Cunningham said: “Rugby Den has been enormously well received, exceeding all of our expectations.”

MatchPoint Group began in 1992 and also has offices in Australia and Hong Kong. The company works in partnership with rights holders and venues to achieve their corporate hospitality objectives.
