Martin Currie's NAV surges 37.1%

THE Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust enjoyed a 37.1 per cent rise in its net asset value in the year ending 31 January, the Edinburgh-based group said yesterday.

The performance compares with a 33.2 per cent rise over the same period in its benchmark, the FTSE All-Share index.

Each of portfolio's three tiers generated growth, with the UK equity element of the portfolio up 32.8 per cent over the period, the international portion by 37.1 per cent and the private equity portfolio up 64.6 per cent, following a 65 per cent fall the previous year.
