Marriott unveils new 191-room Inverness property, billing it largest hotel in city

AC Hotels by Marriott has unveiled a new property in Inverness, saying it will be the largest hotel in the city, creating 35 full and part-time jobs, and marks the brand’s debut in Scotland.

The four-storey, AC Hotel by Marriott Inverness sits on the banks of the River Ness on Glebe Street, overlooking the Kessock Bridge and within walking distance of the city’s bars, restaurants and Eden Court Theatre. It has 191 bedrooms including 150 king rooms, some of which are accessible, and 30 twins with either city or river views across to the Black Isle, and boasts a gym, and a 60-seater restaurant plus riverside terrace for outdoor dining available for 30 guests.

Hotel Co 51 will manage the new property, which joins its portfolio of 35-plus hotels in eight European countries. AC Marriott Inverness is its seventh property in Scotland and 16th in the UK – joining the likes of Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge, and Courtyard by Marriott properties in the Scottish capital and by the SEC in Glasgow.

Wayne Androliakos, UK regional director of operations for Hotel Co 51, said: “We are honoured to open the first AC Marriott in Scotland and it’s in a great position, close to the start and end of the renowned NC500 in the capital of the Highlands. [It] will attract a lot of business and leisure travellers... At Hotel Co 51 we’re proud that we continue to grow apace, adding to our rapidly expanding portfolio in Europe in strategic locations.”

AC Hotels has 210-plus hotels globally, and takes its name from the initials of Antonio Catalan, who created the brand in Madrid in 1999.
