Magners maker to axe jobs

IRISH drinks group C&C yesterday said it axe nearly one-fifth of its workforce to reduce costs as sales fall in Ireland and the UK.

The group said it would restructure its sales force, merge its Dublin operations into one office and cut 120 posts at its Bulmers plant in Clonmel.

The mill has nearly 420 staff, while C&C has around 670 employees in total.

C&C – which is run by former Scottish & Newcastle boss John Dunsmore – sells Magners cider in the UK.
