Magazines for sale after Total wipeout

A TRIO of car magazines aimed at enthusiasts of the Honda, Nissan and Subaru brands has been put up for sale after the firm behind the titles collapsed.

Metis Partners, the Glasgow-based intellectual property practice, said it was hopeful a buyer could be found for Total Honda, Total Nissan and Total Impreza, which is aimed at owners of the popular rally-bred Subaru model.

The firm is working alongside Maureen Leslie of MLM Solutions, who has been appointed as provisional liquidator of Livingston-registered Total Car Magazines.

As well as the three bi-monthly publications, the assets linked to the company that are up for grabs include website domain names and the rights to a number of trademarks.

A spokesman for Metis Partners said: “We are expecting interest in this, as they are strong brands in a niche sector, which should prove
attractive to publishers.”

Allan McLeod, senior manager at MLM Solutions, which has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Livingston, said: “Despite having created a strong brand, an excellent
advertiser base and a dedicated readership within its niche market, and a successful expansion into online platforms including Apple and Amazon Kindle, internal company
issues have meant [Total Car Magazines is] unable to operate successfully.

“MLM Solutions is working with Metis to identify a buyer for the titles, in order that the brand can continue and that the subscribers will continue to receive editions.”
