MacRae to retire as BoS chief economist

Bank of Scotland chief economist Donald MacRae is to retire next month after a 30-year career with Lloyds Banking Group.

MacRae, a familar name and voice across the media, has held a number of finance and strategic roles including directorships at Lloyds TSB Scotland and TSB Bank. His regular publications monitoring the state of the economy have become part of the nation’s economic landscape.

The bank said today that while he is stepping down from his role during November, MacRae will pursue “his many other business interests”.

MacRae said: “After 30 years with the group I am looking forward to retiring and doing other things that will continue to develop and grow the Scottish economy.”
