MacDonald joins Hay at bank agri brigade

Old Macdonald seems to have moved on from farming, using his considerable expertise to secure a more lucrative position with Bank of Scotland.

Donald Macdonald becomes joint head of the bank’s specialist agriculture division, working alongside the also aptly-named Sandy Hay.

Macdonald, who has 30 years’ experience in banking, will be based at the flagship offices in Aberdeen, Ayr and Inverness and will cover the north and west of Scotland.

Hay will continue to support agricultural businesses in the south of Scotland and the Central Belt.

Borland Insurance has appointed Stuart George as commercial insurance account executive.

He brings more than 17 years of experience to the role, having working at various large insurance broking firms in Edinburgh and Fife.

He will be responsible for the continued growth of Borland’s operations in Edinburgh, Fife, Aberdeen and the Central Belt.

Oilfield services company RMEC made two more additions to its growing leadership team.

Tony Kitchener comes in as non-executive chairman. With more than 35 years in the oil and gas industry, he is already an experienced company director.

He is joined by new financial controller Andy Paterson, another industry veteran with extensive international experience spanning almost 20 years. He was formerly UK and West Africa finance manager for RigNet UK and was the financial controller for Wipro UK’s Middle East operation from 2010 to 2012.

Kitchener has held a series of senior positions in the UK and US for Expro Group and Baker Hughes during his career; and is a current director of FrontRow Energy Partners.

Elsewhere, the CBI today announces the appointment of Rain Newton-Smith as director of economics. She was most recently head of emerging markets at Oxford Economics, where she helped a range of companies and international financial institutions to expand into new markets and grow their business.
