Lufthansa may sell loss–making BMI

GERMAN airline Lufthansa is looking at putting its BMI British Midland subsidiary up for sale after mounting losses at Heathrow’s second biggest airline.

Lufthansa is believed to have appointed investment bank Morgan Stanley to explore options, including a full sale or break‑up. BMI made a £105 million loss in the first trading half – equivalent to a loss of £38 for every passenger it carried.
