LSE cashes in on Italian operations

The London Stock Exchange beat expectations in its third trading quarter to the end of December, with income of £196 million compared to analysts’ forecasts of £181m.

Income from the LSE’s Italian clearing house leapt 126 per cent to £33.5m but revenue at the group’s main capital markets business was down 4 per cent to £68.9m. Chief executive Xavier Rolet said diversification remained a priority.
