Lovell wins £45m homes contract

AFFORDABLE housing specialist Lovell, based in Glasgow, has been awarded a £45 million contract by West Lothian Council to build 545 homes for social rent.

The new council housing will be built in Armadale, Bathgate, Blackburn, Livingston, Uphall and Whitburn with construction work on the 30-month scheme set to start in January.

All homes will be designed to achieve a 15 per cent reduction in carbon emissions against the standards required by the 2007 Building Regulations, an energy efficiency improvement requirement. The properties will incorporate a range of energy efficiency measures including enhanced insulation, energy-efficient heating systems and positive input ventilation.
