Lookers optimistic after sales jump

Car dealer Lookers believes its 2010 results will beat its previous expectations after a strong third quarter, driven by rising sales of new and used vehicles.

But Lookers - whose Taggarts chain has showrooms in Glasgow and Motherwell - dismissed City speculation of a possible takeover bid for the group, with chief executive Peter Jones saying no offers had been received.
