London boom benefits Scots

THE London construction boom, with cranes dotting the skyline from the City to the West End, are delivering a £9 million boost to the Scottish economy each year, a report out today says.

The report, produced by accountancy firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers and commissioned by business group London First, says that for every £100m invested in the English capital, £54m goes outside London, in the likes of construction supplies, specialist engineering and skilled labour.

The report says the developments create or safeguard more than 200 jobs annually in Scotland, and for every direct job on a London development site, 2.7 jobs are created in regional supply chains and support services.
