Gordon Duncan, the former managing director of Marsh in Scotland, will head up the expansion of Lockton’s risk advisory capabilities and will be joined by Gordon McLagan, formerly client director at Marsh in Edinburgh, and Nichola Martin from Griffiths and Armour.

A new office in Glasgow, thought to be backed by a £2-3 million investment, will see Lockton build on its operations in Edinburgh. The company has 64 global offices earning revenue in excess of $1 billion (£587 million).

Duncan said: “The Scottish economy is performing strongly. Irrespective of whether it remains in the union, we believe there is significant untapped demand for high-quality covers across a range of industries.”

Chris Brown, a Lockton board member, added: “The decision to expand in Scotland will see Lockton continue to hire over the course of the year as the firm builds out its corporate service offering.”
