Lloyd’s chief bids to buy Clydesdale

A GROUP of businessmen led by Lloyd’s of London chairman Lord Levene is in talks to acquire the Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks.

Levene’s NBNK company wants the merged group to acquire 632 branches of Lloyds and other assets to create Britain’s seventh biggest bank with more than 1,000 outlets and £40 billion in assets.
