Lloyds appoints new chairman for Scottish Widows

Nick Prettejohn, the former chief executive of the Lloyd’s of London insurance market, was today named as the new chairman of life and pensions firm Scottish Widows.

Parent company Lloyds Banking Group said Prettejohn, who takes up his new role with the Edinburgh-based firm on 23 June, will replace Lord Blackwell, who remains chairman of the state-backed lender.

Blackwell said: “He will be a valuable addition to the group board and is ideally suited to carrying on the role of chairman of Scottish Widows.

“His appointment will allow me to step down as chairman of Scottish Widows on 23 June 2014 to concentrate on my role as chairman of the group.”

Prettejohn, who is a member of the BBC Trust, is a former chief executive of Prudential’s UK and European operations.
