Laptops a real turn-on for UK consumers

UK consumers rank their laptops higher than TV as their favourite piece of technology, a report has revealed.

The study by Deloitte found that 28 per cent of people scored their laptop as their preferred device, compared to 22 per cent who preferred their TV.

The desktop PC came in third with 19 per cent of respondents, while smartphones won just 10 per cent of the vote. The study found that the UK was ahead of other European countries in terms of the amount of technological devices owned, averaging at 9.7 devices per head.

Deloitte also found that the number of people who own tablets such as Apple’s iPad more than doubled from 1.3 million in 2010 to 3 million in 2011.
