Kesa share holds up despite sales dip

KESA, the owner of the Comet electricals chain, has maintained market share in the first four months of the year, despite a 4 per cent drop in like-for-like sales over the period, figures showed yesterday.

Comet is facing increased competition from a resurgent Currys – owned by London-listed DSG International – while US-based BestBuy has just embarked on a major opening programme in the UK.

Across the group, profits for the year to 30 April are expected to be significantly ahead of last year and in line with the current average of market expectations at 76 million.
