Japanese recovery continues apace

JAPAN'S industrial production rose for a second straight month, as factories continued to recover after the sharp downturn from March's earthquake and tsunami.

Industrial output rose 5.7 per cent in May from the previous month, according to official figures. In April, production was up 1.6 per cent. Production plunged a record 15.5 per cent after the disaster devastated Japan's industrial north east.
