Jamie Oliver's pork firm wins US approval

A MAJOR supplier of pork to UK supermarkets has secured approval to export its products to the US in a major boost for one of its plants.

Cranswick, which supplies pig products for the Jamie Oliver brand as well as Sainsbury's and Tesco, has received accreditation from the US department of agriculture to supply to the country with fresh pork produced near Hull.

The facility re-opened in January after a 13 million revamp. The development came as the company posted an 8 per cent increase in pre-tax profits to 47.1m in the year to March.
